GLOBAL Learning Awards, refugee week and a cricket tournament made for a busy but successful week at Glusburn Community Primary School.
In the mixed North Yorkshire cricket finals on June 20, the school's Y3/4 girls cricket team came third, while the Y5/6 team was placed fourth.
"The children never gave up, even when faced with very difficult opposition. The children were gracious in victory and defeat, wearing smiles throughout," said a school spokesperson.
"Following this success, Charlie Butcher received a highly commended award for his refugee poem at the Sanctuary Foundation Art and Poetry Awards held at the British Library in London.
"Finally, KS2 pupils from the rights respecting team attended Leeds Civic Hall for the Global Learning Awards organised by Leeds Development Centre. Hilary Benn was in attendance and presented Glusburn with commended for the Global Justice Learning Award."
Lynn Ashton, the school's head of values and ethos, received 'commended' for the Long Term Contribution Award.
