THE new owner of Grassington's only pharmacy says she is delighted to be able to serve the people of the Dales village.
Samina Khan, an experienced pharmacist of more than 25 years, will be taking over the village's pharmacy on Monday, July 1, following the decision by Boots the Chemist to leave the village.
Boots is expected to close its branch in Station Road on Saturday, but the pharmacy will reopen for business on Monday with Samina and her new team.
Ms Khan, who has run the pharmacy in Pateley Bridge for 17 years, is no stranger to Grassington; as a former area manager for Moss Pharmacy, she spent some of her time working in the village.
Customers will also recognise a familiar face as Pam Goulden is remaining in the pharmacy and joining Ms Khan's new team.
Ms Khan said she was looking forward to welcoming customers. "As well as a fully stocked shop for all over the counter needs, Grassington Pharmacy will also offer the full range of pharmacy services. This will include Covid and Flu vaccinations, pre-dispensed medicine trays, and a collection and delivery service for housebound and elderly patients."
A spokesperson for Boots confirmed that the Grassington branch was closing but did not want to provide a statement.
