GIGGLESWICK and Settle Brass Band is celebrating after winning two trophies at the hotly-contested annual Kirkby Lonsdale Brass Band contest.
Bands from around the region came together to play and march through the centre of the town in what was an opportunity to have a friendly competition between established competition bands and local bands. Prestigious bands such as Morecambe Brass Band, North Lakes Brass, Lancaster City and Eccleston all turned up to compete.
Giggleswick and Settle was thrilled to win two cups including performing the best march on the day. Conductor Kevin Maltby said: "It just shows how proud we should be of our local band - to compete and win against some of these national established competing bands was a real thrill - we did the town proud. It is the first competition we have entered in eight years - so to come away with two trophies is fantastic."
Giggleswick and Settle Brass Band is open to all, and always looking for new (or lapsed players) who want to have a bit of fun and enjoy playing.
They practice on Wednesday nights and also have an active training band for learners of any age.
