THE cost of car parking at Skipton Railway Station has gone up by 50 per cent with a day ticket increasing from £4 to £6.
A two hour ticket is £4 and a weekly pass, £25.
A spokesperson for train operator, Northern, said: "We have introduced car park charges at a number of the stations on our network – including Skipton - to ensure that our car parking facilities remain available for rail users only. This move aligns these stations with other locations that have also seen the introduction of charges – including Cononley – since August 2023.”
A reconfiguration of the car park at the station in Broughton Road, including the creation of a new exit, was part of the original Skipton £7.2 million 'Gateway' project. But work on the car park has been shelved with North Yorkshire Council saying it will revisit it at a later date.
