AMONGST all the imaginative creations in this year's Settle Flowerpot Festival - which will be followed up next month with Kettlewell 's Scarecrow festival, is a seal covered in plastic, which can be found in the grounds of the Quaker Meeting House, on the other side of the road to Settle Victoria Hall.
A spokesperson for Plastic Free said: "Settle is aiming to achieve Plastic Free Community status this year We have entered our seal in Settle Flowerpot Festival for the category of events and awareness raising. It is in the gardens of the Quaker Meeting House. The seal highlights the harm being caused to marine species by discarded plastic".
Settle Flowerpot Festival runs until the start of September. Kettlewell' s festival is from August 10 to August 18.
