NORTH Yorkshire Council says roadworks on the A59 at Broughton, near Skipton, are due to be completed by the end of the week (Friday, July 26).

Long queues of traffic have been building up in both directions on the road at the busiest times of the day because of temporary traffic lights, which the council says are operated manually at peak times to manage queuing.

A new bus stop, traffic islands and new line markings are included in safety measures between Edmondsons Lane and the Bull at Broughton in a joint project between the council and the Broughton estate.
