THE creations of a soap bubble artist are set to delight audiences of all ages at Skipton Town Hall.

Ray Bubbles, who holds a number of bubble-related Guinness World Records, teases the hour-long performance, which takes place on Wednesday, August 7 at 11am and at 2pm, as “a very immersive show – there’ll be a lot of surprises, a lot of audience interaction.”

Attendees can expect forays into the front rows and beyond, as well as invites up on stage for bubble-based fun.

And it isn’t just for younger audiences – “the physics, the arts, and the science” of what Ray Bubbles does should appeal to curious teenagers and adults as well.

“Some of the first shows I did we had more adults than children,” says the performer – referring to events in South Wales since his return to the UK.

The performer’s bubble journey began across the pond, in Paris, where he had lived with his family since around 2010.

While researching recipes for bubble solution so that his two young boys could play with a bubble wand, Ray Bubbles came across a community of bubble enthusiasts online.

Before long, he was making giant bubbles measuring several metres tall and wide.

“I’d go out, usually on a Sunday morning, either into Paris or into a local park.

“For the first hour there were not many people.

“The next hour, you’d get a lot more kids, either coming back from church or coming into the park to play, and then that crowd would gather.”

The performer has since wowed audiences at venues including the Athens Science Festival and Phaeno Science Center in Wolfsburg, Germany, where he did a run of 9 days.

His Guinness World Records success has, like a bubble, encompassed the family around him, with his two boys holding records either currently or in recent years – including bouncing a bubble on bubble film, and volleying a bubble back and forth – and his wife, whom Ray Bubbles describes as “not keen on bubbles,” implicated in a 300-strong group bubble-making record in Wales.

At least three new shows are in the pipeline for 2025, including in Manchester (featuring puppets and bubbles), in London (a show that will involve “more acting”), and a show creating characters out of bubbles.
