IT was a sunny day for yesterday's Yorkshire Day and Skipton celebrated with a day of free events on the closed High Street.
There were performances by the Flat Cap Band and Great Yorkshire Morris, craft stalls and even a rodeo sheep for people to see how long they could stay in the saddle.
The day started with the reading of the Yorkshire Proclamation by the town crier - at the same time as town criers across Yorkshire marking 1,149 years since the founding of God's Own County.
Organised by Skipton Business Improvement District, there was also a Yorkshire themed market, and in the library, a presentation by the Yorkshire Dialect Society.
Holy Trinity Church was also welcoming visitors to its exhibition of wedding dresses, which is part of its celebration of love, marriage and relationships. The exhibition of wedding gowns from across the decades runs until Sunday (August 4). On Sunday morning, there will also be a special service at the church.
