CAVE rescue volunteers were called out twice on Sunday to help walkers.
At just before midday, Cave Rescue Organisation went to the aid of a female after being called for assistance by the ambulance service. The 69 year old had collapsed while walking on Horton Scar Lane, near Horton. Team members helped paramedics put her into a stretcher and into a CRO vehicle so she could be transferred to an air ambulance.
Later, at just after 4.30pm, the team was called out again by the ambulance service to help with a male walker near Lund Farm, Burton-in-Lonsdale. The 78 year old had fallen and injured his back on a footpath near to the River Greta.
Team members helped the ambulance crew to put him into a vacuum mattress full body splint and then into a stretcher which was wheeled and carried across fields to the nearby ambulance.
