AS part of its Summer Breeze Festival, Skipton based Craven Arts is offering a range of free creative workshops and activities that are open to all.
All taking place at Craven Arts House in Otley Street, the events include circus skills, drawing, photography and creative sessions for families.
On Saturday (August 10) people can drop in between 11am and 3pm watch demonstrations and get some expert help with juggling, staff spinning, devil sticks, diabolo, contact juggling, hula hooping, poi and unicycling with Skipton Circus Skills.
It will be an opportunity to have fun learning new skills while also building confidence, creativity, physical and mental fitness and improving balance and coordination.
In addition to the circus skills class, Craven Arts House is also hosting a series of free workshops on Saturday afternoons throughout August. The hands-on sessions are designed to inspire creativity and provide unique experiences for the whole family.
On Saturday (August 10) Jane Carlisle Bellerby will lead a seaside art drawing session, and on Saturday August 17 a Notan Paper cutting workshop will be taught by Denisa Francis.
Notan is a Japanese term that literally means “light-dark harmony” and will involve the use of scissors to make paper cuts that shape into beautiful images.
Over the August bank holiday weekend, Craven Arts will be holding its Summer Breeze Festival Extravaganza offering a whole host of creative events and activities.
As well as a weekend long makers fair celebrating local talent and craftsmanship, families will be able to find out what's inside Skipton's Giant Swaledales, watch the ancient and dramatic technique of raku firing, see inside the artists' studios, and take part in a range of kids craft activities.
The last Saturday in August 31, Andrew Fitzgibbon will lead an interactive creative photography workshop, using just a smartphone camera and its apps.
Creative workshops take place on August 10, 17 and 3, between 1pm and 3pm. These are free sessions but spaces are limited. Book your place online by visiting https://www.cravenarts.co.uk/workshops.
The Summer Breeze Festival Extravaganza is free and will run from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25.
