A 21 YEAR old driver had both cocaine and ketamine in his system when stopped by police, heard Skipton Magistrates Court.
Toby Webster, from Embsay, was pulled up at 7.45am on May 16 as he drove along The Bailey towards Skipton, the court heard on Friday. Police had received a call that he was suspected of driving while under the influence of drugs.
When he was questioned at the roadside, Webster appeared nervous, was shaking and had traces of white powder around his nostrils. After testing positive at the roadside for cocaine, he was taken to the police station for the evidential test which showed he had 674 microgrammes of benzoylecgonine (cocaine) per litre of blood, the specified limit is 50; 32 microgrammes of cocaine per litre of blood, the specified limit is 10; and 200 microgrammes of ketamine per litre of blood, the specified limit is 20.
Webster, who admitted three counts of drugs-driving, was no longer using drugs, which had been for recreational use, the court was told in mitigation. A full time joiner, he had referred himself to get help for his drug use.
Webster, of Low Lane, Embsay, was banned from driving for 22 months and was fined £633. He will also have to pay a surcharge of £253 and costs of £85.
