GRASSINGTON'S town crier Bob Kendall was up against stiff competition at the Knaresborough Festival of Visual Arts.
As part of the annual, ten day festival, there was a town criers' competition with entries from across the north of England as well as one from Toowoomba, Australia.
The event marked the granting of the town's market charter in 1310.
Grassington' s first ever crier, Bob Kendall was proud winner of the 'best dressed crier award' - the judges clearly admiring of his waistcoat showing sheep being controlled by a sheepdog.
Overall winners was David Hinde from Helmsley, closely followed in second place by the current British champion, Terry Ford from Otley.
Its not the first time Bob has won a 'best-dressed' award for his town crier uniform, including at his first ever contest, a national one held in Ilkley last year. The 'rig' as it is known, was made by volunteers in Grassington, assisted by donations.
