A MAN was dragged along the ground after experiencing a problem with his paraglider as he attempted to take off for a flight in Upper Wharfedale.
Emergency services were called out yesterday (Wednesday) to Wind Bank, at Kilnsey/Kettlewell where the man had been in the process of taking off from Knipe Scar. His friend managed to catch the canopy of the paraglider before it took off, but not before the man was dragged some distance over rough rock, causing deep cuts to his upper and lower leg.
A spokesperson for Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association, said: "With assistance (the man) made it half way down the hill before calling for help.
"The ambulance service and Helimed were on scene treating the wounds when the UWFRA team arrived, the team then drove the casualty to the waiting land ambulance for an onward trip to hospital. We hope the gentleman recovers very quickly."
