A MALE walker had to be airlifted to hospital yesterday (Monday) after falling from a Norber Erratic at Austwick.
The 58-year old sustained a serious ankle injury after falling off one of the glacial erratic boulders at around midday in the area known as the boulder field.
A spokesperson for the Clapham based Cave Rescue Organisation said: " As team members arrived at the road-head, an air ambulance was circling overhead. Arriving at the casualty site with a team stretcher they used it to carry the already ‘packaged’ patient to the helicopter for the flight to hospital."
The spokesperson added: "Thanks to the farmer for offering off-road parking for our members’ cars."
