ANEW six-concert series from Skipton Music has been announced, featuring performances from internationally recognised musicians and ensembles.

The season will kick off on September 24 with a piano recital by Jeneba Kanneh-Mason, whose success in the BBC Young Musician competition has been followed by breakthrough performances at the Proms and elsewhere.

Audiences can also look forward to consort singer ensemble The Gesualdo Six, who will be joined by trumpeter Matilda Lloyd.

Their performance, entitled Radiant Dawn, embraces compositions from the Renaissance to the present day.

The Solem Quartet, with violist Shiry Rashkovsky, will bridge the gap between the traditional and the contemporary in a performance which sees Mendelssohn's Quintet Nr 1 complemented by a specially commissioned new quintet from Errollyn Wallen.

After Christmas, audiences can enjoy two performances by the Apollo Saxophone Quartet.

The first showcases works by a new generation of UK composers, while the second, Journey Across the Impossible, pairs music with silent film, a first for Skipton Music.

February sees a shift in mood with a performance by cellist Laura van der Heijden, accompanied by pianist Jâms Coleman.

The season concludes with a fusion of classical, world, and folk music courtesy of the Kosmos Trio.

Season tickets are available until August 31.

Frank Finlay, chair of Skipton Music, said: "I am pleased that having successfully built back our audiences after Covid, we've been able to hold season tickets at the same level for a third consecutive year.

"With approximately six for the price of four single concert tickets we think that's exceptionally good value.

"We're particularly delighted to have a very strong line-up, which I'm confident will captivate our audiences and provide unforgettable experiences."
