A MAN who stole a £40 Lambretta jacket from a Skipton store has been ordered by magistrates to pay £120 in a fine and compensation.
Ryan Heywood, 42, admitted stealing the jacket from Boyes in Swadford Street when he appeared at Skipton Magistrates Court on Friday.
The court heard he and another man had been recorded on the store's CCTV cameras putting items in bags and leaving without paying on March 26 this year.
In court on Friday, Heywood, of Keighley Road, Skipton, admitted theft from a shop.
The court heard he had been in breach of a conditional discharge at the time imposed by the Skipton court for a theft committed in January this year.
He has a total of 48 convictions for numerous similar inquisitive and dishonesty offences and in February last year was sentenced to eight months in prison, the court was told.
The court heard in mitigation he was now working with voluntary organisations to tackle his drug and alcohol issues and had not offended since March.
Magistrates left the conditional discharge in place, fined him £80 and ordered him to pay £40 compensation to Boyes store.
