GLUSBURN Community and Arts Centre is offering budding film technicians and digital whizz-kids a chance to take up exciting volunteer roles.
As it launches its new autumn season of events and community activities, the centre in Colne Road, is looking for two volunteer film technicians and two digital champions.
Jo Clark, venue operations assistant, said film technician volunteers would be part of the events team and would operate the DVD machine used to screen films.
"If you love films and are comfortable with technology, then why not consider volunteering as a film technician, " she said "You'll be working as part of our friendly events team and will be responsible for operating our DVD player to screen the film. Full training will be provided, and you get to watch the film for free.
"New this season, we'll be screening some classic matinee performances as well as our regular monthly evening blockbusters. We're also excited to screen six stage musical recordings on our big screen."
The centre is also looking to recruit digital champions in order for the centre to help more people in the area with their digital skills.
Jo said: We're looking to recruit two new digital champions to help support members of our local community that are looking for answers to their online and digital questions. "If you are IT literate and are keen to inspire and motivate others to get online and to develop their digital skills and confidence, then this could be the volunteer role for you.
"Full training will be provided, and you'll be supported throughout. The digital champions will help support our weekly drop-in sessions, and also be involved in running individual and small group sessions."
Coming up at the centre is a night of the greatest hits of 10CC and ELO on Saturday, September 14, a beer and gin festival on October 4 and on November 9, a tribute to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons with tribute band, The Ragdolls, on November 9 The classic Jailhouse Rock, staring Elvis Presley, is on September 6; and on September 22, there will be a screening of Miss Saigon, as part of the film's 25th anniversary.
