THE headteacher of Settle College has congratulated the school's students for an excellent set of GCSE results - and for their hard work, determination and resilience.
Gareth Whitaker has also paid tribute to the 'outstanding' staff who have helped students reach their full potential. This year's GCSE students produced some significant achievements, with a number achieving top grades across a wide range of subjects, says the school.
Headteacher, Gareth Whitaker, said: "These results are a testament to the determination and hard work of our students, who have shown incredible perseverance throughout their studies. I am immensely proud of each and every one of them. These achievements also reflect the commitment of our outstanding staff, who have supported, encouraged, and challenged our students to reach their full potential."
He added that the school took a holistic approach to education, putting importance of extra-curricular activities and pastoral support.
"At Settle College, we believe in nurturing well-rounded individuals. Our students are not only academically successful but also excel in sports, the arts, and community service as seen through our Settle College Diploma. This year’s results demonstrate that our students can achieve excellence while still engaging in a wide array of activities that prepare them for the future," he said.
Among the high achievers this year, many students have set new personal records, securing multiple grade 9s.
Student, Edward Whaley, said he was really pleased. "I would like to thank the support of my teachers and family. I’m excited to take the next step in my education and build on what I’ve learned at Settle College, going on to study biology, maths and geography at Settle College Sixth Form," he said.
And, Alna Sinu who excelled across the board, added: “The teachers have been amazing. They’ve really helped me to develop, and I’m now looking forward to studying A-levels in maths, chemistry, biology and English.”
Robert Watmough, who will be off to study media at Craven College, was equally pleased with his results: "They are better than I could ever imagined," he said.
Rosie Pettit was amazed at her grade-9 in English Language and will now return to the school's sixth form to study chemistry, biology and geography.
Settle College is proud of the diverse range of pathways its students will embark on following their GCSE success. Many will continue their education at Settle College’s Sixth Form, which offers a wide selection of A-level courses, CTECs and BTECs, while others will be pursuing other vocational qualifications or apprenticeships elsewhere.
Mr Whitaker said: "We are incredibly fortunate to have such a supportive community of parents, governors, and local stakeholders who believe in the value of education and contribute to the success of our students. As we celebrate today’s results, we are also looking forward to the bright futures that await our students as they continue their educational journey.”
