A library volunteer is set to shelve his own book.
Gargrave Community Library volunteer, Dave Stannard, has written a history of Leeds Playhouse which will soon be available at libraries in the region.
The book, entitled Leeds Playhouse: A Tale of Two Theatres, starts in the 1960s, when residents campaigned for a repertory theatre in the city.
It also tells the story of the theatre's relocation to Quarry Hill.
The move, which took place in 1990, saw the venue renamed as the West Yorkshire Playhouse.
Mr Stannard said: "Christopher Eccleston and Maxine Peake both played their first Shakespeare roles at the Playhouse.
"Jude Law was there in 1994.
"Other famous names seen on the theatre’s stages include Ian McKellen, Sheila Hancock, Tom Courtenay, and Lenny Henry.
"Who knows: maybe the first person to borrow the book will be a very famous Yorkshireman, whose work has been seen regularly at the Playhouse."
Alan Bennett, who sent Mr Stannard a special message regarding the book, said: "Very best wishes with the book and I look forward to reading it."
Leeds Playhouse: A Tale of Two Theatres is published by Settle-based Naked Eye Publishing.
