MEMBERS of Gargrave Bowling Club have continued their support for charitable causes by raising £2,130 through several club competitions held over the summer.
This year, the club, in Marton Road, has been raising money for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice at Oxenhope. Pictured, on the left holding the cheque, is the inspiration for the club's charitable efforts, member Dave Garnett.
Dave commissioned a trophy, in memory of his late wife Gloria, to be competed for annually. Several years ago Dave moved the tournament to Gargrave and it is now is the club’s major fund raising event of the year. This year, the annual tournament proved to be very popular, with more than 40 people taking part. Dave keeps saying this is his last year of fund raising – but club members at Gargrave are not so sure.
Gargrave Bowling Club is a crown-green bowling club for both experienced bowlers and beginners of all ages. Find out more at: https://www.gargravebowlsclub.uk/
