A CHURCH in Horton-in-Ribblesdale is applying for grants to install a toilet in the building.
St Oswald's Church, on Chapel Lane, Horton-in-Ribblesdale, is in the first stage of applying for grants to install a much-needed toilet.
A spokesperson for St Oswald's said: "After years of debate and baking of cakes and pies, the making of jams and chutneys and many annual events which have put over £15,000 into the St Oswald's fundraising account, the busy fundraisers are delighted to announce they are in the first stage of applying for grants to install a toilet in St Oswald’s Church.
"More and more people are using the church especially as it is open every day and offers ‘Help Yourself’ teas and coffees throughout the week and hosted afternoon ‘pop up teas’ most weekends during the summer.
"The Messy Church and informal events also attract visitors, not to mention weddings, christenings and funerals.
"Everyone agrees that the church is desperately in need of its own facilities.
"The project is estimated to cost up to £80,000 for installation which includes the cost of drains and sewage disposal."
"Hopefully at this time of harvest thanksgiving and gift day together with National Generosity Week, it is hoped parishioners or those from further afield may think about how they can help with the project by either making a donation or organising a fun event to generate funds."
