A SKIPTON fish and chip shop has raised over £200 for the local branch of the Royal British Legion in commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings.

Bizzie Lizzie's announced it raised £225 for The Service Assistance Fund of The Skipton Branch of The Royal British Legion.

The contribution was made possible through the generosity of its customers, as £1 from every fish and chips sold on Thursday, June 6, was donated in honour of the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings.

To commemorate the momentous day in history, Bizzie Lizzie's partnered with The Royal British Legion to support their  work in providing assistance to veterans and their families.

The funds raised will be directed to The Service Assistance Fund, which helps local veterans access essential support services and aid.

Skipton Royal British Legion Chairman Gordon Bell said: "The generous donation from Bizzie Lizzie's is most welcome and will be used to help fund more social events for the branch members.”

A spokesperson for Bizzie Lizzie's added: "We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our customers for their participation in the fundraiser.

"Every fish and chips sold made a real impact, and we are proud to be part of a community that cares."
