CRAVEN Arts House in Skipton will host the upcoming textile exhibition Common Ground, featuring the work of two groups of textile artists, Gathered Threads and Textilia 3.

This unique exhibition, which runs from October 16 to November 9, brings together two distinct collections that explore the theme of ‘common ground’ from diverse perspectives.

Textilia 3 is a group of 14 contemporary textile artists, based in the North of England, who employ many diverse textile and mixed media techniques, including hand and machine stitch, felt, appliqué, mixed media and painting, ceramics, dyeing and resists, print and manipulated fabrics and fibres.

Gathered Threads is a group of textile artists who met at Bradford School of Art – two weavers, two embroiderers, and two printmakers.

Both artist collectives have created entirely new works for this exhibition.

Textilia 3’s approach focuses on the transformation of a single, familiar textile into a series of framed artworks, symbolizing unity through diversity.

Gathered Threads, on the other hand, draw inspiration from city streets, shared faith narratives, public footpaths, sisters/families/friends, and grazing on common land. The exhibition is open 11am to 4pm from Wednesday to Saturday between October 16 and November at Craven Arts House, 55 Otley Street, Skipton.

The opening Event will be Friday, October 18, from 5pm to 8pm.

Admission is free.
