STUDENTS from South Craven School recently underwent astronaut training at the Euro Space Centre in Belgium.
The Year 9 and 10 pupils, 78 of them in all, completed their own mission to launch, dock, and land a space shuttle using computer simulations.
They also designed their own physical rockets, which reached heights of up to 130 metres.
Training included being spun in a multi-axis chair to experience how the body reacts to rotational movement under various forces - including 3G of pressure.
The students also visited Pairi Daiza zoo, enjoyed a torchlit night-time tour of Bouillon Castle, and participated in a Belgian chocolate workshop, creating their own chocolate bars.
