STATIONS along the Settle -Carlisle line have recently enjoyed a number of wins in the Yorkshire in Bloom and Cumbria in Bloom awards, which encourage community members to work together to cultivate spaces.
Susie Payne, operations manager at the Settle Carlisle Railway Development Company, along with Friends of the Settle Carlisle Line member, Anne Payne, received four certificates.
Within the Cumbria in Bloom awards, the Chairman’s Special Award was presented to Appleby Station with Appleby Primary School, in recognition of the Appleby Art Project.
That project, led by artist Karen Babayan, resulted in a number of pictorial information panels for the station.
Horton-in-Ribblesdale and Settle stations received It's Your Neighbourhood certificates from Yorkshire in Bloom last month.
Susie Payne said: "We are grateful to all the volunteers who make our stations look so beautiful."
The Settle Carlisle line was given pride of place in Lonely Planet's list of the best train rides in Europe in 2024.
