FINANCIAL services company Computershare is set to move from Gateway House in Skipton to new premises in Broughton Road.

The company will move to offices in Belle Vue Square, formerly Dewhurst's Mill, after securing planning permission from North Yorkshire Council.

Computershare applied for both planning and listed building consent for mechanical improvements to the second and third floor of the building, which was the home of the former Craven District Council and now, following local government reorganisation, is home to the Craven office of North Yorkshire Council.

Plans included internal works to remove partition walls forming existing small offices, and the construction of new partition walls to create new offices and meeting rooms.

Also approved are mechanical service alterations to offices, the extension of an existing external plant area, and louvres added to existing windows.

A council planning officer report recommended approval of the scheme, and concluded: "The proposal would provide continuing economic benefits with limited visual impacts on the development's immediate setting nor would the development harm the character and appearance of the conservation area or the setting of the listed building.

"The proposal would not give rise to any adverse amenity issues and would provide a biodiversity net gain."

A spokesperson for Computershare said: “We’re pleased to secure such a historic site in Skipton and are currently looking at transport options.”
