SKIPTON events venue Elsworth at the Mill has been named a finalist in the Yorkshire & Humberside Family Business Awards for 2024.
The space, located in High Corn Mill on the edge of Skipton Woods, is run by husband-and-wife team Rebecca and Bruce Elsworth and offers live events, co-working provision, wedding hire, and more.
Upcoming dates at Elsworth at the Mill include a tapas and guitar session and a 'taste of the opera.'
The space was acquired by the Elsworths around two years ago, after an inquiry from Mrs Elsworth, who is a member of Skipton BID, to former chair Andrew Mear regarding available business units.
The Yorkshire stone walls, attractive timber, natural lighting, and woody surroundings of the Mill were appealing to the couple, who have a storied background in hospitality: Mr Elsworth was head chef at the Michelin-starred Angel, in Hetton, while Mrs Elsworth's resume includes time at the Devonshire Arms.
Elsworth at the Mill is a finalist in two categories of the awards: 'Rising Stars' and 'Food and Drink Establishments.'
Leeds' Royal Armouries will host the awards ceremony on Friday, November 22.
Dave Clarkson and Sue Howorth of The Family Business Community will host the ceremony, alongside food and drink writer Nigel Barden.
Ms Elsworth said: "We are very excited and grateful to be nominated for the best family business, especially being a small family business where we aim to support other family businesses and suppliers.
"It’s an honour to be nominated for these awards."
Ms Howorth added: "The quality of this year’s entries made the judges’ decisions extremely challenging.
"The finalists should be incredibly proud of their achievements.
"We’re looking forward to celebrating with all the family businesses in our region."
