A landscape artist is coming to Craven Arts House in Skipton this Friday (October 25) to discuss his work.
Brian Burton will discuss his evolving career and how his work has developed to encompass more experimental representations of landscapes.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions.
Mr Burton's exhibition 'Flow Like Water' has been showing at Craven Arts House in Otley Street since October 16, and will be running until November 9.
It comprises a series of paintings that explore 'the power, beauty, and fluidity of water in all its forms.'
Inspired by rivers, lakes, and watercourses in the area, Mr Burton's pieces were painted after months of contemplation and observation of natural phenomena.
The artist trained at institutions including Loughborough College of Art, Manchester Polytechnic, and University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology.
He began his career as a lecturer in drawing, design, and textiles, before becoming a designer within the Yorkshire textile industry, a role which he held for more than 25 years.
His painting practice was ongoing all the while, with exhibitions and sales having taken place across the UK, Europe, and North America, and his pieces now held in numerous private and corporate collections.
Flow Like Water is described as 'a celebration of one of nature’s most vital and mesmerizing elements.'
The paintings in the exhibition invite viewers to appreciate water’s dynamic presence, whether calm or turbulent, and its essential role in the environment.
A mix of texture, colour, and form is showcased in the exhibition.
Flow Like Water is being exhibited at Craven Arts House until November 9, with entry from Wednesday to Saturday, 11am to 4pm.
The Meet the Artist event will take place this Friday (October 25) from 5pm to 7pm at Craven Arts House.
