FANS of 1950s American cinema are in for a treat as one of Marlon Brando's greatest films On The Waterfront comes to Skipton's Plaza Cinema.

Brando Night, courtesy of Skipton Film Club, is taking place during the 70th anniversary year of the film which is hailed as a milestone in American screen acting.

In addition to Brando, the film, directed by Elia Kazan, is a who's who of actors from the Method School of Acting - featuring Rod Steiger, Lee J Cobb and Eve Marie Saint, who recently celebrated her 100th birthday.

A spokesperson for Skipton Film Club said: "Although not without controversy – the film could be read as justification for Kazan’s taking part in naming names at the McCarthy ‘red scare’ trials in 1950s America – its dynamic filmmaking and taut script make the film relevant today, still loved by audiences and filmmakers alike.

"We rightly celebrate the 70th anniversary of such a landmark film with this screening at Skipton Film club."

On The Waterfront is at Skipton Plaza at 5.15pm on Sunday, November 3. Members and non members welcome. See more about Skipton Film Club on Facebook and Instagram.
