TALENTED young musicians will shine at a concert at Skipton's Christ Church in November.

The KVU Singers annual young musicians concert sees the choir's MD Frank Smith and members take a back seat in order to promote young talent from around the area, and sometimes a little further afield.

And, this year, the concert will feature four very varied contributions.

Harris Birch, a 16 year old bassoonist, has been playing the bassoon since he was nine years old and is currently taught by Jonathan Shardlow.

Esme Davies, soprano, is studying at Chetham School of Music, where she is taught by Kate Huddle.

Oliver Crick, who has been playing the viola since he was three years old, is a pupil at Ermysted’s Grammar School, Skipton. He is currently section leader of the Bradford Youth Orchestra, conducts the Ermysted Swing band and is part of the concert's final contribution, the Ermysted’s String Quartet.

The quartet is made up of Harris Birch, Benjamin Rawlings, Oliver Crick and, making a welcome reappearance, Tommy Consterdine, who took part in last year’s young musicians’ concert.

A spokesperson for the KVU Singers said: "Neither Frank nor the singers will be missing in action. They will be making a small and mainly light hearted contribution, but the spotlight belongs to our young musicians."

The KVU Young Musicians concert will take place at Christ Church, Skipton at 2.30pm on Saturday, November 9. Tickets, £12.50. £5 for first child, additional free. Book online at www.kvusingers.co.uk, or contact Maggie on 01756 763840.
