WORK on the installation of a new pedestrian footbridge with lifts at Horton-in-Ribblesdale Station is nearing completion.
The £4.2million investment at the station on the Settle to Carlisle line is being carried out by Network Rail.
Once completed, it will mean people will no longer have to cross the tracks to access platforms.
£1m of the funding is coming from the Department for Transport’s Access for All programme.
It had been hoped that the footbridge would be finished by July and the lifts by September. A temporary crossing has been in place while the work has taken place.
When the work began earlier in the year, Rory Kingdon, senior sponsor at Network Rail, thanked passengers and walkers for their patience and added that the crossing would make things safer and accessible for all.
Train operator, Northern, also welcomed the improvements, saying it would make a real difference to people visiting the area.
