POLICE in Skipton were out on the beat last week, giving out advice and reminding drivers to slow down when passing schools.

A spokesperson for Craven Police said: "The foot patrols included Middletown, where four home burglaries were reported last month. We conduct these sort of patrols every day, in different areas and at different times.

While we were in the area, we also did some road safety checks – we dealt with two drivers regarding their standard of driving past Skipton Parish Church primary school."

The spokesperson added: "Help us keep your community safe – keep doors locked, even if you’re home, use any additional security on your house, don’t leave valuables on view and when you go out during dark nights, simply leaving a light on is an easy way to deter burglars.

You can also get email alerts about crimes where you live, crime prevention advice and news about activities and events we’re arranging by signing up to North Yorkshire Police Community Messaging service."
