THE former bass player of superstar Scottish rock band, Simple Minds, is set to play at Skipton Sound Bar in November.
Derek Forbes, who is one of the founding members of the Glasgow group, comes to the Skipton venue as part of a northern tour that will see him visit Edinburgh, Glasgow, Hexham, Alnwick, and Dundee, with his new band The Dark.
Mr Forbes wrote and co-wrote a number of Simple Minds' songs.
The band's commercially successful singles include Don't You (Forget About Me), which was released in 1985.
That track was, in fact, written and composed by record producer Keith Forsey, for the film The Breakfast Club.
Simple Minds' other singles include Promised You A Miracle and Waterfront.
Mr Forbes will be promoting his book, A Very Simple Mind: On Tour, as part of his Skipton visit.
The book was published by McNidder & Grace on November 9 last year.
Derek Forbes & The Dark will play Skipton Sound Bar on November 7 at 7.30pm, with tickets available from https://skiptonsoundbar.co.uk/events/a-simple-mind-on-tour/
A talk, a Q&A, and a book-signing session will also take place during the two-hour event.
