A PACKED house at the Octagon Theatre in Grassington thoroughly enjoyed an illustrated talk by David Joy on his new book Digging to Doom.
The audience gained an insight into the Grassington Lead Miners' 300 years of digging for lead, with hope, sometimes despair and often to doom. We heard how the fortunes of the mine owners affected the fortunes of the miners and how the coming of the railway saved Grassington.
Meticulously researched this is an essential book for those interested in the local history of the area and of lead mining.
Digging to Doom, along with David's other books, are available at The Stripey Badger Bookshop.
