THE turbulent history of Skipton Castle in the 14th century will be the subject of a talk in Ingleton on Monday, November 18.
Dr Mike Spence, in a talk organised by Ingleborough Archaeology Group, will describe how in the early 1320s, King Edward II faced threats not only from Scottish incursions, but also from a disenchanted nobility who rose against him.
Dr Spence will explain that previously disregarded documents from the National Archives show how Skipton Castle was drawn into these events, and how it responded to them and their aftermath.
The talk on November 18 takes place at Ingleborough Community Centre, Ingleton at 7.30pm. All welcome, £3 for non-members.
Ingleborough Archaeology Group was set up in 1996. More details at: www.ingleborougharchaeologygroup.org
