THERE will be an opportunity to pop in to Skipton Library next week, pick up a free pair of slippers and enjoy a chat and cup of tea or coffee.
The 'slipper social' aims to reduce the risk of older people falling and hurting themselves by providing them with a free pair of properly fitting slippers.
It is a North Yorkshire Council initiative run in partnership with North Yorkshire Sport. In addition to a free pair of slippers, there will be tea, coffee, a slice of cake and information about activities going on in the area.
Information will include how to prevent falls and how to stay active, safe and well and details about groups, clubs and activities to reduce loneliness; and is open to individuals, families and carers. North Yorkshire Sport will be giving out information packs and the event will be attended by representatives of Skipton Step into Action and representatives of Craven Museum, who will be sharing items from the collection.
The event, on Tuesday, November 19 from 10am to 12 noon is part of the wider wellbeing benefits and services provided by Skipton Library.
