CHILDREN at Brooklands Special School in Skipton spent the week ahead of Remembrance Sunday looking at the act of remembrance including the significance of poppies are worn and why wreaths are laid.
Pupils at the school, on Burnside Avenue, even re-created a small First World War Flanders Field of poppies in the school garden made out of plastic bottles.
A spokesperson for Brooklands School said: "In classes we produced some fitting art work using prior art skills and techniques. One of the senior art classes painted over 30 plastic bottle bottoms to represent the poppy; we then created our Flanders field in the garden. One student stood and read out a poem which was filmed and shared on social media. It was a really moving week."
