RETROSPECTIVE planning consent has been given for the retention of two shepherds' huts used as holiday accommodation in Embsay.

Change of use of the land where the huts are sited, in the grounds of Cravenwood, Skipton Road to Haw Laithe, has been allowed by North Yorkshire Council.

Cravenwood, a grade two listed building formerly known as the Old Engine House, is located via a track from Skipton Road and is close to Embsay Station.

The shepherds' huts, in the property's large garden, are converted former railway carriages.

Embsay with Eastby Parish Council objected on grounds of the safety by access and egress and asked if permission was given that landscaping be carried out.

A planning officer's report noted that the huts were located in an area already surrounded by trees and shrubbery with more planting planned.
