SETTLE Victoria Hall plays host to The Icicle Works Acoustic this weekend.

Formed in the early 1980s, The Icicle Works were influenced by the likes of Echo and The Bunnymen and The Teardrop Explodes.

Formed by Ian McNabb, Chris Layhe and Chris Sharrock had been playing music together since their early teens. The band produced four albums and had hits in both the UK and the US with songs including In the Cauldron of Love and Evangeline.

In 2023 Ian McNabb and Chris Layhe decided to re-unite for a series of acoustic performances and will be at Settle Victoria Hall on Saturday (November 30).

New comedy thriller The Plot Thickens by Dave Payne and Dan Lovatt will have the audience guessing on Sunday (December 1).

It’s inexperienced Alex’s first day on the job. But before he can even get to grips with the tea urn and stationary cupboard, he is given his first task – which proves to be absolute murder.

As secrets are revealed, alliances are tested and backs are stabbed, will Madeleine succeed in changing the narrative and escaping with her life? Or will Julian and Alex fulfil their deadly brief?

Film screenings coming up are The Holdovers on December 4 an acclaimed film set in an New England prep-school; and The Taste of Things, a 'sumptuous award-winning period love story' set in 1889 France, also on December 4.
