LANGCLIFFE Singers are preparing for their Christmas concert, due to take place at Settle Parish Church, Holy Ascension, on Saturday, December 14.

The choir is promising something for everyone at the afternoon concert with a combination of Christmas classics, old favourites, and new songs.

Set to get the audience into the festive spirit will be Britten's Ceremony of Carols, accompanied by Maxine Molin on the harp, and popular choruses from Messiah - including Hallelujah, in which audience participation will be encouraged.

There will also be arrangements of Christmas Bells and The Twelve Days of Christmas by the choir’s music director Darren Everhart; Spellbound, a beautiful setting by Vahan Solarian of Emily Bronte's moving ode to winter, and Rutter's Nativity Carol.

O Little Town of Medley-Hem by Chris Marshall, a harp medley of many favourite carols, and a selection of favourite carols for the audience to join in will complete the programme.

Parking is available across the road from the church in Whitefriars car park, and there is level access to the building and toilet facilities available on the ground floor.

Christmas hampers will be up for grabs and there will be Christmas punch and mince pies available in in the interval to 'oil the vocal chords in preparation for the carols in the second half', says the choir.

The concert starts at 3.30pm. Tickets £12 for adults, and free for accompanying carers and under-16s. From Car and Kitchen and Forage and Feast in Settle and at https://www.trybooking.com/uk/events/landing/68863?
