POSSIBLY a new Christmas film favourite, The Holdovers, is the December choice of Skipton Film Club.
"At Skipton Film Club we always seek to get the festive season off with a bang, usually with a classic piece of entertainment from the golden history of cinema. However, this year we have chosen a film we believe is destined to become a Christmas classic in its own right – Alexander Payne’s marvellous film, The Holdovers," said a spokesperson for the club.
"The film follows the trials and tribulations of a rather grumpy teacher at a New England boarding school who is forced to chaperone a group of students over the Christmas break. What follows is a bittersweet comedy as the teacher, played by the brilliant Paul Giamatti, and the rest of the ‘holdovers’ discover their inner humanity during the time they’re forced to spend together."
The Holdovers came out in 2023 and has a 15 certificate.
See The Holdovers at Skipton Plaza cinema at 5.15pm on Sunday, December 1. Open to members and non members. Find Skipton Film Club on Facebook and Instagram.
