CRAFTER and violinist Anne Heaton is swapping her bow for her crochet hook to raise money for a cause promoting amateur music in Craven.
Last year, Anne raised almost £2,000 for Settle Orchestra, of which she is leader, through being sponsored to knit a beautiful blanket and then raffling it off.
This time, she is creating a work of art to raise money for another cause close to her heart, Langcliffe Singers.
Her husband Brian has been the accompanist of this choir for over 30 years, and the choir has strong links with Settle Orchestra.
Anne is making the “Spirit of Flora” by designer Janie Crow, a 5 x 4 foot blanket which will use 19 balls of yarn which amounts to 5,870 metres.
Langcliffe Singers is a community choir based in Settle. It has been bringing choral singing to the Yorkshire Dales for over 40 years.
Their next concert is on December 14 at 3.30pm in Holy Ascension Church, Settle.
The completed blanket will be the prize for a raffle which will be drawn at the choir’s summer concert on July 5, 2024, in Victoria Hall, Settle.
