CAFE and bar business Loungers has applied for change of use of the former Barclays Bank building in Skipton High Street.
Loungers, which already has premises and pavement licences for the property, has now applied to North Yorkshire Council for change of use of the three storey, grade two listed building from a bank to a cafe/bar and restaurant.
In documents to the council, agents for Loungers say the business proposes internal and external alterations and the installation of plant equipment.
"Consent is sought for the internal fit out of the building to accommodate a Lounges bar and restaurant. Works will include the installation of a bar and kitchen area. Minor external alterations are also required to accommodate the installation of extraction and ventilation equipment," it is stated.
Documents add: "No loss will be caused to the historic fabric of the building as a result of the internal fit out and external alterations. The proposal will assist in bringing the premises back into beneficial use, adding to the street frontage and vitality of the area."
Loungers operates more than 250 sites across the country, through two brands - Lounges and Cosy Clubs with Lounges located in suburbs and market towns.
