Celebrity chefs the Hairy Bikers popped into Bolton Abbey to help find Britain’s best family recipes.

Si King and Dave Myers spent three days staging shows in the village, collecting forgotten gems and secret scribbles that had been handed down through the ages.

The information will be included in a new six-part series, due to be screened on BBC2 in early 2010, which has the working title “Mums Know Best”.

In the series, Si and Dave will meet mums (or other cooks) who are still cooking recipes that they learnt from older family members or passing their recipes on to newer family members.
