Three generations of a Sutton family have risen to new heights to raise money for a local football club.
Barrie Pearce, 74, his son Nigel, 49, his grandson Jack, 17, and two others – Dianne MacDonald, 40, and Luke Dalby, 27 – will be leaping out of an aeroplane at 15,000 feet to raise funds for Cross Hills Football Club.
The sponsored skydive is due to take place on Sunday at Hibaldstow Airfield in North Lincolnshire.
“It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do, so I thought I’d try and raise a bit of brass at the same time,” said Barrie, chairman and long-time member of Cross Hills FC.
“My son and I did a parachute jump from 3,000 feet over 25 years ago, but this one is going to be from 15,000 feet. At least we’ll be attached to a skydiving expert.”
Barrie said the jump had caught the attention of villagers, who had been supportive of the five skydivers as they prepared for their big day.
“It’s something that grabbed our imagination,” said Barrie.
All money raised will go towards the running and maintenance of Cross Hills FC Anyone who would like to sponsor Sutton’s five skydivers, should telephone Barrie on 01535 635345.
