Organisers of Sutton Fun Day have hailed it as “absolutely brilliant”.

The event, staged by Sutton Village Committee, was helped by the widening of the village park gates, which ensured all the attractions could be sited in one place.

Christine Young, events co-ordinator, said Sunday’s fun day was a huge success, aided by excellent weather. She said: “The sun shone and the proceeds are believed to be the highest ever.

“The widening of the park gates allowed all the attractions to be in the park and to ensure the future of the fun day for years to come. The atmosphere was fantastic.”

The day featured charity stalls, children’s games, arts and crafts, funfair and donkey rides.

There were also refreshment marquees and live entertainment provided by the May School of Dance, the Silver Star Stompers and the Bradford Pipe Band. People also enjoyed music by Martin Henderson’s samba band and demonstrations laid on by Jai Freestyle.

Christine, along with David Harrison-Young, chairman of the village committee, thanked everyone who contributed to the day.

In particular, they singled out the procession entrants, Phil and Kate Corp, who filmed the event, those who provided refreshments and prizes and Sutton Parish Council.
