A NEW walking challenge has been created taking in the breathtaking mountains of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The long distance event will take place on September 24 and 25 and will tackle the famous Three Peaks - Whernside, Ingleborough and Penyghent, followed by the Wharfedale Three Peaks - Birk Fell, Buckden Pike and Great Whernside.
Experienced leaders will guide the walkers around the 42-mile route which encompasses a collective ascent of over 4,000 metres.
Mark Killala, owner of organiser Northern Guiding, said: “To succeed in the demanding challenge, walkers will need to be well prepared and suitably trained for the tough going but they will be rewarded with some of the very best views and landscapes the beautiful Yorkshire Dales have to offer.”
Leaders anticipate the first day to be completed in 12 hours and the second in ten, with fell walkers tackling a variety of terrain and perhaps weather.
Northern Guiding has pledged to donate £5 to a mountain rescue charity for every hiker that takes part and has sponsorship packs available for walkers’ wishing to tackle the challenge for charity.
Northern Guiding runs a range of guided walking events and navigation training courses and provides mountain leadership for companies organising corporate team events.
