SUMMER is approaching - and with it comes local galas and carnivals.
This week's nostalgia picture shows the 1985 Skipton Gala Queen contest, at the town's Black Horse Hotel.
It was compered by Roger Ingham, who has loaned the picture. He recalls there were 16 entrants.
The full line-up is, from the left, back row: attendant Jennifer Donald, the 1984 gala queen Sarah Donald, newly-elected gala queen Sally-Anne Nicol, Vicki Howcroft and Julie Cutting, both attendants.
Front row: judges Peter Higgins, an athletics medallist at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, former Miss Yorkshire Sandra Gresswell and Football League official Geoff Busfield.
