THE Government has promised to invest money into safe cycling.
Given the lack of progress on re-opening the Skipton to Colne railway line, understandable because of the major investment required, I suggest that the line of the former railway be surfaced to make a safe, traffic-free route for cyclists.
This could be implemented for a relatively more modest sum of money than re-building the railway and would be a speedier job.
Eventually, when the railway plans come to fruition, the train line and cycle lane could run alongside each other.
