Letter: Mystery humming in Skipton (Image: Newsquest)
I LEARNT the name of the mysterious noise, 'The Holmfield Hum' (a mystery humming sound that has been reported in West Yorkshire) which has been troubling me for some time, by Googling, and write to as if anyone else in the Skipton area is affected by it, for no one else I know seems affected by it.
It is a low rumbling noise which grows worse in the evening, and is very bad at present.
It seems to have had most effect in Calderdale, Huddersfield area, with inhabitants complaining it was driving them mad: I know the feeling.
No cause has as yet been discovered. I would be glad to discover more about this phenomenon in our area.
